Dear Esteemed Visitors, Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and My Spiritual Children,
With profound joy and paternal love, I extend a heartfelt welcome to the official website of the Holy Metropolis of Accra, encompassing the blessed nations of Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and Mali. Your presence here is a true blessing and an opportunity for us to share the truth of Orthodoxy and our vision for the local Church, which flourishes in the heart of West Africa.
The Orthodox Church is the living continuation of the ancient Church of Christ, preserving unchanged the faith and sacred traditions entrusted to us by the Holy Apostles. Through the Holy Mysteries, the Divine Liturgy, and the ascetic life, we are all called to experience communion with God—what we refer to as ”theosis”. This spiritual journey is open to every person who seeks truth and eternal life.
The ancient Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa has played a pivotal role in the history of our church. Since its founding by the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Mark, it has stood as a beacon of Orthodoxy on the African continent, spreading the light of the Gospel to nations and peoples. Today, under the spiritual guidance of His Beatitude, our beloved Patriarch Theodoros II, it continues its sacred missionary work with unwavering zeal, bringing the hope and love of Christ to every corner of Africa.
Our continent is a land rich in cultures, traditions, and spirituality. Orthodox missionary work in Africa is not merely an effort to propagate the true faith; it is an expression of profound love and respect for its people. Through education, medical care, and social support, our Church stands by every person, regardless of race or language, offering not only spiritual guidance but also material assistance to those in need.
As the Metropolitan of Accra, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mali, my vision for our local Church is to cultivate a vibrant community of faith, love, and service. We aspire to establish new parishes, educate and equip capable clergy and lay leaders, and develop programs that address the needs of our people.
I warmly invite you to actively participate in this sacred missionary endeavor—whether through prayer, charitable contributions, or personal involvement. Together, by the grace of God, we can bring the light of Orthodoxy into every heart and build a Church that reflects the love and glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
With paternal love in Christ,
+Daniel, Metropolitan of Accra

ENTHRONEMENT SPEECH OF THE ORTHODOX METROPOLITAN-ARCHBISHOP OF ACCRA DANIEL
(Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Christ, Sunday, April 21, 2024)
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again.” (John 10:14-17)
With these sacred and salvific words of the Evangelist John:
Your Eminence, Metropolitan of Aksum Petros, esteemed Representative of His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodoros II;
Your Eminence, Metropolitan of Constantia and President of Amohostos, Vasilios;
Honored and distinguished guests, esteemed representatives of the Ghanaian Churches and Christian confessions, representatives of the political authorities;
